My life ended as I knew itA few months ago, as we speakIt wasn’t the most important thing in the worldBut was a big change for meI spent six years with a good personWho I thought I would be with for life
Hi David, you’re not alone! My relationship of several years also just ended. These things are hard, no matter who initiated. Just know that we are all here thinking of you and cheering you on.
This is painfully beautiful to read, but I hate using that word to describe it when someone's alchemizing their ache into words for us to consume and feel. Thanks, though. It strikes a very particular chord I thought I'd numbed out to.
"Never before have I felt so seen
Yet somehow, so very rarely witnessed
My greatest fears had unfolded
At the same time, so had many big dreams"
Especially with these lines. I commend the vulnerability; do look out for yourself.
Beautiful. And very poignant as I've just ended my 11 year marriage. It was not done with kindness and respect, so I'm happy to hear that yours was. Be well, David
My heart aches for you while reading this insightful piece. I do think of you often and pray for you. Your vulnerability is seen and valued. What a deep joy it is to lean into community and for them to truly put in the work of holding you up. I am sure that some days are better, and some are not so much. Continue to be present on both days and lean extra into the support frames holding you; and thank you for the reminder to do the same for myself.
"I'm not okay but I'm present" that motto stayed with me. I feel it is a very personal piece for you ? I could sense it through the words you wrote. It reads like song one could sing for themselves. Very poetic and so profound. Loved reading this. Thanks for sharing it.
That damn eczema … I empathize deeply. Sometimes weirdly I think it’s a reminder to tend to my wounds. When stress compounds and I’m being asked to be a friend to myself.
Dear Dave, A very moving poem. Keep up the honest creative work. You are a good example for those of us whose poetry has not made it out to an audience.
I often wondered what the sadness was in your happy life . Now that you have shared your sadness you have touched the hearts of many ( more than the likes will tell ) with your sweet honesty just like you touch the hearts of many with your sweet happiness. May you forever see the joy in little things ❤️.

Wow. Wonderful, resonant, and deeply relatable.

And there you’ve said it. Love counts even when it doesn’t last. 🥰🥰🥰
I love that sentiment. It's what gives us growth.
This is beautiful, heartbreaking, and I am so sorry but also so grateful for how generously you shared this with us. Take care of yourself 🤍

It's better to have been loved for a short while, than never to have been loved at all. It's part of the journey. ❤️
🤍🤍🤍thank you for your vulnerability, this piece is beautiful and real 🍵💌 keep feeling — that is what makes us humans :,)
