Our headline news:
Clips that Free my Forehead to Breathe!
I clip my hair back from my face
On walks, at work and on the train
To let my forehead and neck breathe
In the scorching summer heat
It makes me look a little fried
But I absolutely do not mind!
It is the first time that my hair has been long enough to be in my face and on my neck during the hot summer months. It is a joy and also a physical sensation to manage, with clips and bands and all I can! I now have what I feel to be the perfect rotation of clips that are convenient to carry around and keep my face clear in the heat. I look frazzled, but I am free!

Lemon Drizzle Cake is Never a Mistake
On a morning in Leeds
My stomach said to me
‘Have cake for breakfast’
My mind agreed!
I made the journey
To a cafe called Bake
My breakfast was tea
With a slab of cake!
A Friday morning in Leeds, one of my favourite cities, onto the last busy day of a very busy week - if not indulge myself then, then when? That’s exactly what I thought when I was struggling to decide what to have for breakfast on that morning. I had been to a lovely cafe with a friend the day before and seen the lemon drizzle cake, but hadn’t had the appetite for it at the time. Upon finding the appetite had arrived, there was no need to waste any time!
And finally…
Visiting the Site of a Special Upcoming Night!
I went to Southwark Cathedral
A beautiful, historic site
To sit in respect and awe
Ahead of my show there, by candlelight!
This was the very first moment
The scale of this thought became real
My heart overflows with excitement
For the night when we’ll gather and feel!
My headline candlelight concert in October is approaching! October seemed far away but as adult life has taught me, weeks fly by in the blink of an eye. It still feels slightly beyond belief that I will get to share poetry in Southwark Cathedral by candlelight, but I am writing away and beginning to believe it! Tickets are on sale now!
Going into this week:
I am writing furiously towards several endeavours, working hard on many things, going outside for long walks and enjoying the small joys that life brings! Last week was a heavy week emotionally, so in this one I am going to go easy on myself and ensure that I do things that are simply for fun!
Thank you for being here.
Whatever you’re doing this week, I hope you have a wonderful one.

You are a very handsome young man- around the age of my son. I am so glad you are enjoying your hair. It is lovely! Have a lovely summer, take good care!
Lemon drizzle cake sounds like a great breakfast treat.
